QUARTZ
It’s one of the main constituents of the earth’s crust, it can be found in the traditional crystalline (SiO2) or amorphous (cristobalite) form. In ceramic is used mainly to reduce the plasticity of the ceramic bodies, in basically constituting the skeleton, and also serves to contain shrinkage during both drying and heating. It is also the main raw material for the glass industry production.
